About me

I'm Naomi Jayne, a twenty-seven-year-old born-again Christian and writer from Adelaide, South Australia. I am a daughter, sister, auntie, friend, employee, writer and church member who loves the Lord Jesus Christ and seeks to live for Him.

I write short stories, novels and non-fiction, and even tell stories in my ‘day job’ as a data analysist. I write about many things, including cats, living with a disability, singleness, mental health issues, doing God’s will and how annoying blowflies are.

The first real writing I remember doing was a series of letters to God. They were desperate cries for help from a struggling, depressed teenager. The Lord answered those cries, and gave me a verse I continue to treasure: “Have not I commanded three? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Joshua 1:9) [KJV]

Why the name?

The phrase “word in season” is from Isaiah 50:4. The prophet Isaiah speaks, saying, “The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: He wakeneth morning by morning, He wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned [KJV].”

A word is season is a word of encouragement. We all grow weary–physically, mentally or spiritually. And we all need someone to help us, pray for us, challenge us, share scripture with us and to–sometimes literally–pick us up off the floor. We also need to be encouragers. Isaiah 50:4 tells us every one of us can encourage others by sharing what the Lord is teaching us.

I am not a theologian, pastor's wife, or your mum. I'm your peer, a flawed Christian girl who hopes you will be encouraged by what God is teaching me.

Why the King James Version (KJV)?

On this blog, I quote only from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible. This is the version I read and listen to.

The original scriptures were written in languages I don't know how to read such as Hebrew and Greek. But the translators of the King James Version believed, like me, that every word of the entire Bible was inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16). God has kept and protected His entire word over the centuries, and humans have no right to alter it. The King James translators firmly believed this, taking care to use the most accurate sources to translate each word individually. They let each word of God speak for itself. Accordingly, I believe the KJV remains the most accurate and respectful English Bible translation.
